Elden Ring is an action-RPG game developed by From Software with contributions from Hidetaki Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin. R. R. Martin. It is a hardcore open-world game where the player has to explore the open world and challenge himself to battle local bosses and gradually uncover the secrets of the world. Elden Ring is inspired by FromSoftware’s previous works such as the Dark Souls series and Bloodborne, combining their characteristic elements.
Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
The planned Shadow of the Erdtree add-on, scheduled for June 21, will surprise players with its globality as anything but the largest add-on in FromSoftware’s history. It can already be pre-ordered, with pre-orderers being rewarded with an in-game Ring of Miquella gesture. The add-on will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows.
What’s in store for us in the add-on?
According to Hideko Miyazaki in the add-on, we will be waiting for bosses that are not inferior in difficulty to Malenya, which will cause a sense of satisfaction and pleasure after passing them. Without losing the free choice of whether to bypass these bosses and return later, or accept the challenge. It should not be overlooked that some bosses will be optional, as well as the aforementioned Malenia.
In addition to the bosses, we will have a map the size of a tomb (which is not small) and another poisonous swamp. We should not forget about 8 new weapon categories.
The events of Shadow of the Erdtree will unfold in the area known as the Shadow Lands. This region exists in the same universe as Inter-Earth, but for story circumstances, it is physically separated from the latter. To get to this new location, players will have to use a cocoon located in the Mogwyn palace.
Unpleasant Rumors
In an interview, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed some not-so-pleasant news for the rumor mill: FromSoftware currently has no plans for new DLC and a sequel to Elden Ring.
Despite its huge success and 23 million copies sold with rave reviews, it will be very sad if Elden Ring doesn’t get the sequel it deserves.
Judging from FromSoftware’s past, there is no clear pattern to the content released for each game. For example, Sekiro had no DLC at all, Dark Souls 3 had two add-ons – Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City, Bloodborne had one DLC, and Dark Souls 2 had three.
While From Software doesn’t want to give false hope, looking at the success of Elden Ring, there may be hope for a sequel to the fan-favorite game.
